Pontiac

Pontiac, the Division of GM, produces sporty cars.

The history of Pontiac started in 1893 by Edward Murphy. The firm firstly manufactured carriages. The company's first name was Oakland Motor Car Company. Later on the company joined GM. In 1926 the firm got the name Pontiac.

The first car Pontiac silver Streak was so successful that the founders decided to enlarge the production. In 1941 the firm started to make Torpedo models. Then came Catalina, Hardtop, Tempest, Ventura, Grand Am, Pontiac Fiero, Pontiac Bonneville, Firebird, Sun fire.

Now the company is not independent, but it holds a certain place in GM Corporation. The division is considered to make cars for young generation. They still produce sporty cars of the well-known models.
