Mercedes Benz

Mercedes-Benz, the German automobile company manufacturing passenger-cars and combustion engines, was founded in 1926.

In 1900 after the death of Gottlieb Daimler his son Paul and the engineer Wilhelm Maybah followed his business. In 1900 Wilhelm Maybah started developing a new car. The first model was a two-seat sports car. The car was called in the name of the racing car driver Emil Jellinek's daughter – Mercedes. Emil Jellinek was a co-owner of the company. Daimler registered the brand name Mercedes in 1902.

In 1926 two companies, Daimler Geselschaft and Benz und Co, started negotiations on merging. As the result of this merging appeared a three-rayed star. Cars of this corporation entered the market under the trademark Mercedes-Benz. In several years the company started manufacturing first diesel cars.

In the 40s in Germany the demand for Mercedes luxury and powerful cars increased considerably. These cars were produced only by special orders for the leaders of states and high-ranking politicians.

After World War II in 1963 the model 600, which was considered to become a competitor to Rolls-Royce, entered the market.

In November 1979 the world was presented with a new generation of sedans (S-class). These cars were supposed to be the best cars in the 80s. And it turned out to be true.

Today, as well as it was a hundred years ago, the corporation Mercedes-Benz is the leader in the car manufacturing industry.
