GMC

General Motors Corporation is an American corporation producing trucks and passenger cars (wagons and cargo-passenger vans).

Starting their business in 1900, the brothers Max and Morris developed a track equipped with a one-cylinder horizontal engine. In 1992 the company Rapid Motor Vehicle was founded. It produced lorries with a one-cylinder horizontal engine. In 1908 with the appearance of William Duran the company General Motors was set up. Later this company merged Rapid Motor Vehicle other small auto manufacturing companies in Michigan. The first generation of GMC trucks saw the world in 1909.

During World War I the GMC company supplied the army with trucks, equipment for submarines and special lorries. In the second half of the 40s the company was very popular, the cars were sold with success even without serious modifications to the design.

In the 50-s the company launched the trucks "Jimmie" equipped with the 471 Detroit Diesel, the main five-step and additional three-step transmission. In 1956 GMC presented the first full drive vehicle - 4WD. In January 1988 GMC entered the group of truck manufacturers "Volvo-White" and until now it is strong enough producing trucks under the trademark "New Family" which have become a joint product of "Volvo-White -GMC" and "Autocar".

The GMC emblem can be seen on modern trucks of Class 8, although trucks with outdated modifications are still used.
