Dodge

At the beginning of the 20th century two brothers John and Horace Dodge stopped producing bicycles and wanted to make cars. In 1903 Henry Ford offered the brothers the contract to produce engines for his company.

Dodge Old Betsy was the first car appeared. It was a truck. Soon the US army ordered to produce some cars for war actions in Mexico. The main logo of the cars was Dependable cars. The brothers worked with Ford up to 1913 and the next year they opened their own company and started to produce mass cars with metal welded bodies. The cars were very popular and the firm took the second place because of its output.

In the 20s the brothers suddenly died and New York bankers bought the firm and began to invade the European market. At the end of the 20s the firm began a part of Chrysler.

Dodge trucks became very popular in Europe because of new technologies and safety characteristics. They opened its factory in GB and made its own engine.

During the World War II the firm made cars, components, aircraft engines, vans.

After the war Dodge cars became popular all over the world. In the 70s the firm launched Dodge Polara, Dodge Omni, Dodge Lil Red Express became world famous models.
